REALTA' AUMENTATA PER L'ARTE, IL DESIGN, LA CULTURA

This presentation describes the design of an optical see-through head-mounted display (HMD) system for Augmented Reality (AR). Our goals is to make virtual objects “perfectly” indistinguishable from real objects, wherever the user roams, and to find out to which extent imperfections are hindering applications in art and design. Applications of artists and designers lead to observations on the profitable use of the AR system. Their exhibitions at world-class museums showed that AR is a powerful tool for disclosing cultural heritage.

Yolande Kolstee is the project leader of the AR+RFID Lab. She is an officer for Innovation and Quality Care of the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) and is involved in the acceditation processes of both Bachelor as Master programmes. She maintains contacts outside the KABK in the field of innovation and creativity.
AR+RFID Lab is a collaboration initiative of the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) and local companies in creative industry focusing on the development of innovative applications of emerging ubiquitous computing technologies in the field of art and design. Funded for the second time by the SIA/RAAK grant programme in 2008-2010, the AR+RFID Lab works on projects based on Augmented Reality (AR) and Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) technologies.
